Jordi Cornella obtained his BSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Girona (Girona, Spain) in 2001. During the years 1999 and 2001 he also worked at the industry, in the field of production lines automation. He joined the Institute of Industrial and Control Engineering of the Technological Univesity of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) as a research-grant holder in 2002, completing the PhD program in Advanced Automation and Robotics in 2006.
Since September 2006, he is working as a Marie Curie Experienced Researcher at the Interventional Center, Rikshospitalet, University Hospital in Oslo within the ARIS*ER project. His main research interest is the use of robots in medical applications, both under a theoretical and practical point of view. This includes advanced robotic manipulation and automatic control topics like semiautonomous teleoperation, telemanipulation, heptic interfaces, force control and the interaction with soft tissues, as well as the integration of the robots in a whole computer integrated system.
