Laurent Massoptier is an Early Stage Researcher at the Institute of Clinical Physiology (IFC-CNR). He has joined this Ariser partner in summer of 2005 after hist last graduation.
Laurent is graduated from National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble (INPG) in electrical engineering (ENSIEG). Then, he succeed in a specialisation year in signal and image processing from National University of Telecommunications (ENST).
During these years, he acquired background in medical field thanks to the two following interhships: one in signal processing at McMaster University Hospital (Canada) on automatic detection of the characteristical points of an electrocardiogram, and one in image processing at Nuclear Medicine Department of Jean Perrin Cancer Centre (France) on automatic quantification of high binding zone of FDG in PET images.
Moreover, Laurent also had a good experience in image processing by working on SAR radar images at EADS Defence & Security Systems for his master thesis (automatic changes detection between two radar images of the same geographical zones at differnt times).
In this project, he joined IFC-CNR to work on the image processing part of the project, focusing on automatic and real-time segmentation of liver and its structures (vessels and tumors) using pre-, intra- and post-operative images.
