Ashis Jalote Parmar is a PhD candidate researcher in the Department of Industrial Design at Technical University of Delft. She is a Marie Curie Fellow employed as an Early Stage Researcher in the user interface work package of the ARIS*ER project. Her research involves developing design methods and tools for designing user centric workflow driven surgical information systems. In ARIS*ER, her role is to act as a bridge between doctors and technologists to facilitate the process of new product development in a multidisciplinary team. This mainly involves understanding of surgical needs and interfacing them with technological possibilities, towards developing a user centered, multimodal workflow driven surgical system.
Graduated as Master of Industrial Design in Visual Communication in the area of interactive system from the Industrial Design Center (IDC), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), and Bombay, India in (2000). Specialized in Human Computer Interaction. In (2000-2001) she was invited to Germany, as a student ambassador to Hochshule, Mannheim to research in the area of knowledge management. In (2001-2002) she was employed at SAP consulting Dortmund and later at SAP AG, Waldorf, Germany as a User interface designer/usability expert in Customer Relationship Management/NAD. For a year (2003-2004) she was employed at Industrial Design Center (IDC) IIT, Bombay as a senior lecturer. Later, for a semester she was a researcher and a teaching assistant at Korean Advanced Institute of Technology (KAIST) with a research focus on cross cultural interfaces for mobile computing devices.
Major research interests are:
Design methodology, Information design, Interaction design, Context awareness in systems.
