Thomas Studeli,PhD

Thomas Stüdeli is since October 2006 a postdoctoral research associate at the Delft University of Technology, department of Industrial Design Engineering. He is the ER in the field of Ergonomics / User Interfaces of the ARIS*ER project.

He obtained a MSc in 1998 from the department of Environmental Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Work and Health from ETH Zurich and University of Lausanne in 2002. In 2005 he received a PhD from the department Management, Technology, and Economics of ETH Zurich for his thesis on "Measurement and Management of Visual Complaints Linked with Work Specific Visual Load". He worked for five years in a Risk Management Departement of a Swiss Assurance Broker and is a certified European Ergonomist Eur.Erg. and an Occupational Hygienist SGAH.

His research interests are ergonomics of the visual system (visual ergonomics), human perception of performance and workload and task solving strategies. Within the ARIS*ER project he supports the development process towards a reduction of surgeons' workload and creation of an error friendly system.
